I Will Not Honor The N5,000 Stipends for Jobless Youth-Buhari

For those who are still yawning for the N5,000 largesse, which was one of the numerous campaign promises by President Buhari, should  take a chill and cast their hope on something achievable. This is as a result of the shocking revelation made by the President today.While speaking during a meeting in Saudi Arabia, President Buhari said he will not honor the above mentioned largesse made by him during the height of his electioneering campaigns.

  Noting that he would rather use the N5000 to repair the infrastructures in schools and empower mining and agriculture than to give the money to jobless people;

This largesse of N5,000 for the unemployed, I have got a slightly different priority. I would rather do the infrastructure for the school that request them and empower agriculture, mining so that every able bodied person can go and get work instead of giving N5,000 to those who don’t work.
Though the N5,000 stipends for unemployed youth was included in the 2016 budget with robust analysis, the APC senators have however, voted against the plan.The Honorable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed had come out on several fronts in the last few months to give the analytical representation on   How The Federal Government would Fund N5,000 Monthly Stipend,   however, this is the first time the president would speak against the said N5,000 initiative.
