Cross River government set to legalize street hawking

Image result for cross river street hawkers

While state like Lagos has banned street hawking of any form, the Cross River government is putting all the necessary  parameters in place in order to make street hawking a legal form of trading in the state.    This is according to the governor of the state, Prof. Ben  Ayade, while interacting with reporters at the Executive Chambers, Calabar, disclosed that he is currently awaiting an approval by the House of Assembly to legalize street hawking. According to him, having a policy against street hawking will be too hard on traders who cannot afford to rent a shop. In his words:

You cannot tell a man not to sell his goods on the streets because he cannot rent a store, yet you tell the man not to steal."
Just provide a regulatory framework because to prohibit hawking is to tell a man that you don’t want him to eat."
I have sent the Hawking Rights Bill to the House of Assembly to provide a regulatory framework that will provide the right to hawk. We are making provisions for a hawkers’ corridor.
There must be a minimum age, you must be 18 and they must be seen to be properly dressed with reflective vests.
They must have a time zone of when they come out, so as to be able to make optimal sales because we don’t want them to constitute nuisance in the environment."
Prohibiting hawking is to tell a man that you don’t want to give him food, and you don’t also want him to steal, it is unfair.
They have a right to determine how to live as long as it is within the ambit of the law. So, we are repealing anything that prohibits hawking in the state, he said.

He however reemphasized that the hawkers must be up to 18years of age and must have obtained the basic secondary education in order to discourage child labour  and trafficking .

A Muslim faithful caused Traffic congestion while onserving his Juma'at at the middle of Ore-Ijebu Ode Highway

Image may contain: one or more people and outdoor
It was some moment of mixed feeling of anger  and comic relief for commuters at the ever busy Ore-Ijebu Ode Highway, when a Muslim faithful (picture above) parked his truck in the middle highway to observe his Juma'at. This caused a terrible traffic congestion that took several  hours to abate. But does it means that other motorists and travelers are nothing? can this be done in  other parts of the country?

Linda Ikeji Media is employing workers!

The self-made woman and popular blogger, Linda Ikeji has decided to expand her business channel by diving into into other entertainment fora. In a post she made this even, she said she is expanding her business to include TV, Radio, Music etc. According to her.

Y'all know by now that I'm a show-off, so get over it! Lol. So anyway, I'm sure by now a lot of you have heard or read that I'm finally expanding my business. Yes, I am! Blogging will always be my first love but I'm finally ready to expand into other things and take on bigger challenges. For years now, people have been suggesting to me to do more, be more, gave me different ideas of other things to venture into, but I didn't pay attention because I wasn't ready. I like to do things at my own pace & my own time. I'm finally ready! After almost 10 years of blogging, I'm ready for bigger challenges.

So aside Linda Ikeji Blog, which you amazing readers have helped me grow in the last 10 years, (LIB will be 10 in November 2016), I'm creating four new brands under Linda Ikeji Media Ltd.
The first is Linda Ikeji TV. I'm creating my own online TV Network. And in my new office, we built a studio where we can shoot some of our programmes. Our TV shows will include reality shows, entertainment/sport programmes, health/food programmes, game shows, talks shows etc...and eventually even a series. Some of our programmes will also air on terrestrial TV.

My goal is to eventually have my own TV channel on cable but we have to create enough content before we venture into that..which is what we will do for the next few months to a year.

The second brand is Linda Ikeji Radio...but not a radio station like many have thought. It's an online radio (at least for now) and at the office, I built a podcast studio where we can operate...and some of our shows will be aired live.

The 3rd brand is Linda Ikeji Music...it's a strictly music website for everything music in Nigeria plus I'm also building a state-of-the-art music studio...

Then there's LIS. Which I hope will be my biggest brand yet. Maybe even bigger than LIB. I will be unveiling that in a week or so, and I will need your massive support with this one.
At Linda Ikeji Media we are looking to hire the following;
Front desk officer/receptionist, TV presenters, editors, producers, content developers, cameramen, entertainment/music/crime writers, Radio hosts, sound engineers, HR, Accountant, Administrative staff, customer care, marketers and IT professionals. They even said I might need a PA...lol. "She said

She however, made the application for the listed position open to the  general public. If you think you can fit in any of these roles or even qualified for them, please send CV to contactus@lindaikejimedia.com or lindaikejimedia@gmail.com
Here are more photos of her new office.
