7 Lessons of Buddhist Teachings That Will Change Your Life Once and for Al
One of the most beautiful and mysterious religions, Buddhism is now more than 2,500 years old and has about 300 million followers all around the world. The unique teachings attributed to Gautama Buddha (c. 563 BCE or c. 480 BCE) are still spread to “help sentient beings end their suffering through the elimination of ignorance and craving”. While this system of traditions, beliefs and spiritual practices is rather complex, the following basics are absolutely open to people of all kinds. We hope that you will find joy and inspiration in these simple truths!
1. Be generous in your attitude towards others.
«Learn to give, even if you have little».
«By lighting a lamp for somebody, you light your own way».
«There’s a great torment in detachment, and a great power in compassion».
«One candle can light a thousand lights and will not shorten it’s life span. Similarly, happiness doesn’t decline if being shared».
2. Free yourself from attachments.
«No precious stone in the world can be compared to the true sense of Awakening».
«Pain is unconditional, but suffering is chosen by us».
«Lust is the sense of suffering».
«All material things are ephemeral, and the one, who realised this, suffers less».
3. Look inside yourself to find the answer.
«There are only two mistakes we can make on our way to truth: to quit halfway and to be afraid to start».
«Gaining victory over yourself is better than winning thousand battles. It will be your own victory. Nobody will be able to lay hands on it».
4. Find your way to harmony.
«Imagine, that every one you see is a man of wisdom. They all can teach you and help you».
«Mountains are indifferent to winds, similarly, a wise man is indifferent to praise or reprehension».
5. Take over your ego and free your soul.
«To tame yourself is way more difficult, than to tame others».
«Wear your ego like unrestricted clothing».
6. Free yourself from hate, offense and fear.
«Project love to the whole world, in all directions, without anger and enmity».
«You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger».
7. Live here and now.
«If you can recognize a miracle of life in even a little detail, your whole life will change».
«Every morning we are born again. Only what we are doing today is really important».
