Two Fighting: Ghana’s President Mahama insults Obasanjo at African Investment Forum, London


Obasanjo in UKAll did not go as planned at the African Investment Forum in Westminister, London which held the Dec 1 and 2, 2015. An heated exchange between President John Mahama of Ghana and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo degenerated into open insults with President Mahama losing his temper and calling General Obasanjo “an idiot” and a “stupid buffon”.
This was after Obasanjo openly accused the Ghanian President and his government of financially contributing 12 million dollars to Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign. He also accused President Mahama of blackmailing and collecting bribes from Nigerian businessmen in Ghana, buying numerous properties in Nigeria and South Africa.
It took the intervention of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to calm tempers and usher President Mahama to a nearby room to prevent a bigger episode.
The forum, which held  from 1st to 2nd December was attended by African Heads of States including; Peter Mutharika President Republic of Malawi, Matata Ponyo Mapon, Prime Minister Democratic Republic of Congo, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf PresidentRepublic of Liberia, H.E. Thomas Boni Yayi President Republic of Benin, John Dramani Mahama, PresidentRepublic of Ghana, H. E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, PresidentRepublic of Uganda and H.E. Charles Gaëtan Xavier-Luc Duval, Deputy Prime-Minister Republic of Mauritius. Ministers, Private equity firms and investors were present to discuss opportunities for investment and development in African Economies.

Ghanaian president, John Mahama and  controversial former Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo were alleged to have fought dirty over Goodluck Jonathan, the immediate past president of Nigeria.

According to The Whistle, the mild drama  and near pandemonium occurred at the Annual Global African Investment Forum held in Westminster, Central London. General Obasanjo had openly accused the Ghanaian president and his government of blackmailing and collecting bribes from Nigerian businessmen in Ghana, buying numerous properties in Nigeria and South Africa and financially contributing 12 million dollars to Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign last year.
This infuriated President Mahama who lost his temper and pointing his finger , called General Obasanjo an ” idiot” and a “stupid buffoon”.  It took other ministers present as well as Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to calm tempers and usher President Mahama to a nearby room .
