The Court of Appeal, sitting in Owerri, Imo State on Thursday, nullified the election of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia of the People Democratic Party (PDP).
The court in its ruling also ordered the swearing in of Mr
Otti of the All Progressives Grand Allianceas (APGA) as duly elected governor of Abia State and asked Mr Okezie Ikpeazu to vacate
the office.
The court also faulted INEC for declaring the PDP candidate winner of the election in the first place.
It was reported that Mr. Otti proceeded to the Court of Appeal after Abia tribunal gave its judgment on November 3, which upheld the election of Ikpeazu of the PDP.
Mr. Otti, in his Appeal had urged the tribunal to annul the declaration of Mr. Ikpeazu as governor, saying the election was marred by irregularities and substantial non-compliance with the Electoral Act.
